About Coast 2 Coast 4 Cancer (C2C4C)
For 11 years, the global Bristol Myers Squibb workforce has come together to demonstrate its long-standing commitment to cancer research through the Country 2 Country 4 Cancer (Europe), Coast 2 Coast 4 Cancer (United States), and Continent 2 Continent 4 Cancer (Japan and Latin America) bike rides – collectively known as C2C4C. The tradition began in 2014 when a group of Oncology employees in the United States (U.S.) were compelled to do more for those impacted by cancer. Those efforts expanded to Europe in 2016, Japan in 2021 and Latin America in 2022.
The Company’s commitment is deeply rooted in its patient-centric culture and goes beyond day-to-day job responsibilities. In the U.S., across Europe, in Japan and in Latin America, the ride includes hundreds of employees representing more than 30 nations, who volunteer their time to train, fundraise and participate in these epic bike rides where their miles make more memories for cancer patients and their loved ones. Our employee riders’ motivation to participate and advance cancer research has been personal. Some are riding in honor of those who have lost their lives from cancer or are currently battling the disease. All are cycling for patients. Since its inception, more than $16 million has been donated to advance cancer research worldwide.

The V Foundation for Cancer Research was founded in 1993 by ESPN and the late Jim Valvano, legendary North Carolina State University basketball coach and ESPN commentator. The V Foundation has funded over $353 million in game-changing cancer research grants nationwide through a competitive process strictly supervised by a world-class Scientific Advisory Committee. Because the V Foundation has an endowment to cover administrative expenses, 100% of direct donations is awarded to cancer research and programs. The Foundation funds research across the country for all types of cancer and is committed to funding projects that will make the most significant impact.
Impact
The V Foundation has awarded over $353 million in cancer research grants nationwide. And cancer research is working. Since 1991, the overall cancer death rate has decreased by 33%. The overall age-adjusted cancer death rate has dropped from its peak in 1991 by 33%. This translates to 4.1 million fewer cancer deaths during 1991 through 2021. Researchers funded by the V Foundation have collectively, throughout their careers, written over 90,000 publications, been connected to over 1,000 clinical trials, and received over 5,500 grants that have generated $19 billion dollars in cancer research.
